About our lacquer paint

Learn more about painting with lacquer paint

When it comes to transforming your home, colour choice is crucial. A shade can affect everything from the room's atmosphere to how big it feels. At Klint, we have carefully curated a palette of colours that are not only beautiful, but also durable and of high quality. Let us take you on a journey through our most beloved colour families.

Painting with lacquer paint

Repainting furniture is not just a process of altering an object's exterior; it's a transformation of the furniture's character and function in a room. When we choose a new shade for a chair, a table, or a dresser, we are playing with visual impressions. Bright colours, such as pastels or neutral tones, can give furniture a sense of lightness and modernity. On the other hand, bold, dark colours can give it a sense of weight and tradition, making it a focal point in the room.

But beyond the piece of furniture itself, colour has the power to affect our mood. A soothing blue can provide a sense of relaxation when painted on a reading chair, while a lively yellow on a bookshelf can spread energy and joy in a room.

The psychological effect of colour can also change how we use our spaces. A desk in soothing green can become a sanctuary for work and study, while a child's chair in bright tones can become a place for play and creativity.

Colour choices for furniture can also be an extension of the home's overall style. Earthy tones on a sofa can complement a rustic decor, while a monochromatic palette on a dining table can provide a streamlined, modern feel. So, when choosing colours for your furniture, consider how the shade will affect both the object and the entire room. A thoughtful choice can transform and elevate your entire interior.

Step by step: How to paint with lacquer paint

  • Preparations:

Before you start painting, make sure to place the furniture on a tarp or newspapers to protect the floor. Clean the surface of the furniture thoroughly with a mild soap solution to remove dirt and grease. If there are damages, scratches, or unevenness on the furniture, fill them with wood filler and then sand the surface until it is smooth and even. To protect parts of the furniture that you don't want to paint, like handles or hinges, use masking tape.

  • Choose the right tools:

When it comes to painting furniture, the choice of the right brush is crucial. A narrow brush is best for detailed areas and corners, while a wider brush or roller may be ideal for larger, flat surfaces.

  • Sanding and primer:Start by scuffing the surface you are going to paint with a sanding block. It is important that the surface becomes slightly rough so that the paint adheres properly. Then, wipe away the sanding dust with a microfiber cloth or rag before you start painting. If you are painting over a dark colour with a lighter shade, or if the surface is uneven, start with a primer. This provides an even base and can help the final paint adhere better.

  • Paint:

When you start painting, begin with the detailed areas by using the narrow brush. For larger surfaces, use the wider brush or roller. Remember to paint with even pressure to avoid drips or brush strokes. Let the first layer dry completely, which may vary depending on the type of paint, before considering applying a second layer.

  • Dispose of the bag in the packaging recycling:

Our paint comes in a resealable bag that is easy to use and pour from. When the bag is empty, you can put it directly in the packaging recycling.

  • Conclusion:

Once everything is done and the paint has dried, carefully remove the masking tape. If the furniture had detachable parts that you removed before painting, like handles or hinges, put them back now.

    Well done!

Bonne question !
