What do you like the most about your home?

I love the Scandinavian Funkis style. Everything from the wardrobes to the design elements in general. There’s straight lines – classical, but adaptable.

How do you decorate with paint?

I wanted a very calm and natural base colour. I’m quite fond of colours when it comes to my decorating style but primarily in small quantities – a piece of furniture, a pillow or a blanket. That’s why I looked for a neutral colour scheme that’s still eye-catching.

Which colours did you choose? What attracted you to them in particular?

We used Mourning Dove in the living room. It felt like the perfect light and creamy base colour. In the bedroom, we painted with Playa del Sol. I wanted a colour that was a bit darker but still easy to decorate with. For the kitchen, we chose Sandy. We needed more warmth and atmosphere in the room so we could take our time to enjoy suppers.

What were you most satisfied with?

The kitchen turned out to the biggest difference when it came to both the space and the atmosphere. We built a shelf to fill up with cool wine bottles and cookbooks and painted it the same shade. A home’s soul is in the kitchen! It’s the most important gathering place.

Your best tips for anyone who wants to repaint?

Try out more colours than what you initially had in mind! We ordered 20 different test sheets from Klint and chose completely different colours than what we originally had in mind. It’s all about familiarising yourself with the room and not being afraid to broaden your horizons with colour.
