Guides
Repainting at home is not just a process of changing the colour of the wall; it's a transformation of the room's soul and atmosphere. When we choose a new shade, we play with optical illusions. Light colours, like pastels or neutral tones, can give the room a sense of space and airiness. On the other hand, bold, dark colours can create an intimate, cozy feeling, especially in large spaces.
Beyond the room's dimensions, colour has the power to affect our mood. A calming blue can envelop us in a sense of relaxation, while a lively yellow can fill the room with energy and joy.
The psychological effect of colour also extends to the function of our spaces. A workspace in calming green can become a sanctuary for concentration, while a children's room in bright tones can become a place for play and creativity.
Colour choice can also be an extension of the home's character. Earthy tones can highlight a rustic interior, while a monochromatic palette can give a streamlined, modern feel. So, when you choose a colour, think about how the shade will affect the entire space. A thoughtful choice can transform and elevate your entire interior.
Preparations:
Before you start painting, it is important to prepare the surface properly. This can involve removing or covering objects nearby and cleaning the surface with a mild soap solution to remove any dirt or grease. If there are irregularities, holes, or cracks, fill them with filler and then sand the surface until it is smooth. To protect adjacent surfaces that you do not want to get paint on, use masking tape.
Choosing the right tools:
When it comes to tools, the choice of the right brush and roller is crucial. A narrow brush is best for edges and corners, while a roller is ideal for larger surfaces.
Primer painting:
If you are painting over a dark colour with a lighter shade, or if the wall is uneven, start with a primer. This provides a smooth base and can help the final colour adhere better.
Repainting:
When you start painting, begin with the edges by using the brush. After that, use the roller for the larger areas, and remember to paint with even pressure to avoid drips. Let the first layer dry completely, which can vary depending on the paint type, before considering applying a second layer.
Recycling:
Our paint comes in a resealable bag that is easy to use and pour from. When the bag is empty, it can be placed directly in the packaging recycling.
Finished:
When everything is done and the paint has dried, carefully remove the masking tape and restore the room by moving the furniture back.
Well done!
