So, how do the swatches work?

1. 100% correct colour rendering
We hand paint our swatches with the exact same colour that you can then order. This gives 100% correct colour rendering, and also the same texture as when you paint yourself with the colour.
2. Attach and move around as you wish
Peel off the protection on the back, attach the sheet to the wall, and move around as you want to feel the colour in all parts of the room. The swatches can be moved several times and do not damage either the wallpaper or the wall.
3. 98% less paint per colour
Our swatches are hand painted with real paint, which means that only 1 cl of paint is used per sheet. Compared to a regular sample can of 50 cl, this means that we save the environment 98% of the paint consumption.

Our swatch kits

Our swatch kits contain all colours within a certain colour family, to make it easy to find the right colour. The swatches are 22x22 cm, hand-painted with the same colour you can then order, and removable so you can try different colours without having to paint on the wall.

Peel off the protection on the back, put up the swatch on the wall, and move it around as you want to feel the colour in different environments and light.

Pigments, binders, preservatives and water. The paint is eco-labeled with the Swan label and the EU Flower.

For a colourful world

Ever since we started Klint in April 2021, our goal has been to make it easier and more fun to decorate with colour, so that everyone can create their own home to thrive in. We have tested hundreds of colours and felt them in different lights and furnishings. The most beautiful 115 shades are in our own curated colour palette.

Our idea

We have tried to simplify the entire journey from colour selection to painting. Therefore, from the start, we have hand-painted our adhesive swatches so that they provide 100% colour accuracy. Once you've found the right colour, you then receive the paint in a recyclable bag that's easy to pour out, and we're always on hand for free colour consultation, both via email and chat.

Good luck!

Our sustainability work

98% less paint to test a colour.

Our swatches are hand-painted with real paint, which means that only 1 cl of paint is used for each sheet. Compared to a 50 cl test can, this means a saving of 98% paint, for each colour you test.

A packaging with less material consumption that's easy to source sort.

Our packaging is easy to pour out, easy to reseal, and can be left directly in the source sorting when it's empty.

Swan labeled paint with extra low VOC.

Our wall paint and ceiling paint are labeled with the Swan and the EU-Flower and contain less than 1g/l VOC.

FAQ

Feel free to contact us via chat or email if you have more questions.

We offer three different types of paint, specifically developed to work on different surfaces. Our wall and ceiling paint is a water-based acrylic paint with high coverage that is scratch-resistant and washable. The paint has been tested for harmful substances, is free from solvents and plasticizers, and contains less than 1 g/L VOC. It is Nordic Swan Ecolabelled, EU Ecolabelled, and completely vegan.

Our lacquer is a water-based acrylic paint with high coverage that is scratch-resistant and washable. It contains no classified hazardous substances, is free from plasticizers, vegan, and has a low VOC content of under 30 g/L.

Want to know more about VOC?VOC, or Volatile Organic Compounds, are common indoor air pollutants. Within the EU, the VOC limit for wall and ceiling paint is 30 g/L, and our wall and ceiling paint contains less than 1 g/L VOC. For lacquer, the EU limit is 130 g/L, and our lacquer contains less than 30 g/L VOC.

You can read more about the contents in our safety data sheets wall paint, wood paint, ceiling paint, wall primer, and adhesive primer.

Feel free to contact us via chat or email if you have any questions.

Most surfaces! Our wall and ceiling paint adheres to most surfaces that are solid, dry, and clean - such as plaster, drywall, wallpaper, particleboard, and previously painted surfaces.

We recommend our lacquer for surfaces that are exposed to more wear and tear and/or do not absorb paint as easily. Our lacquer adheres well to materials such as wood, metal, plastic, MDF, and terracotta.

When painting with lacquer, we always recommend roughening the surface with a sanding block and using adhesion primer, as this ensures the paint sticks properly to surfaces that don’t naturally absorb paint.

Lacquer can also be used on radiators that get up to 75°C, but it’s important to let the paint cure properly before turning the heat back on.

We have not yet launched paints adapted for wet rooms or floors, so for those areas we recommend using dedicated wet room paint or floor paint. However, it's absolutely fine to paint indoor staircases with our lacquer as long as you roughen the surface and use adhesion primer first.

Good question! One liter of our paint covers approximately 4-6 square meters when applying two coats. However, the actual amount needed can vary significantly depending on the surface you're painting. Smooth surfaces that are primed or already painted with wall paint absorb less paint, while rough or porous surfaces, like plaster and drywall, require more.

Feel free to use our calculator to estimate how much paint you'll need for your project. There, you can also specify the type of surface you're painting to hopefully get a more accurate estimate.

Our wall paint is matte (gloss level 7), ceiling paint is ultra-matte (gloss level 3), and our lacquer is semi-matte (gloss level 20).

Re-paintable: 16 hours

Adhesive primer:

Tack-free: 1 hour

Re-paintable: 24 hours

Thoroughly dry: 4 days

Good question! We recommend applying a coat of primer when painting untreated surfaces like drywall or plaster, as well as when painting over wallpaper, patched areas, or if your wall has previously been painted with a bold color. The primer helps create an even surface and improves paint adhesion, resulting in a more durable and professional finish.

When it comes to painting over wallpaper, primer is especially important and should always be used. It helps seal the wallpaper and prevents glue or other residues from bleeding through into the new paint.

Feel free to contact us via chat or email if you need help determining the best approach for your project.

We always recommend starting with a coat of adhesive primer when painting with the lacquer paint. Treated wood, plastic, and metal do not absorb paint the same way a wall does. The adhesive primer is needed to create a surface the paint can adhere to.

Before applying the adhesive primer, remember to thoroughly clean and sand your furniture to remove dirt, grease, and other residues that could prevent the paint from adhering properly.

Good question! Liquid paint residue must be dropped off at a recycling centre or environmental waste facility. However, if you've completely emptied a Klint paint container, it can be recycled as plastic packaging.

To clean brushes:Wipe off excess paint with a paper towel while the paint is still wet. The paper towel can be thrown in the regular trash. Place the brush bristles in a container of warm water with a bit of dish soap and let it sit for up to 2 hours. Make sure not to soak the metal part of the brush, as it may rust and the glue holding the bristles can loosen. Rinse the brush, but do not rinse paint residue down the drain. Instead, collect the water containing paint residue in a container and bring it to a recycling center.

To clean rollers:First scrape off as much paint as possible, for example with a putty knife. Then rinse the roller in a bucket of water until clean. Let the water sit so the paint residue settles at the bottom. Pour the clear water into the toilet and take the remaining paint sludge to a recycling center.Ask your municipality for the location of the nearest recycling centre or environmental waste facility.

Use a damp cloth with dish soap to wipe away the paint. If the stain doesn’t come off right away, let it soak for about 10 minutes, then gently scrub with a cleaning sponge.

Good question! Currently, there are no studies that show that this could be problematic as long as you use water-based paint without solvents, plasticizers, and with a low VOC content. (Which our paint ticks all the boxes for). But - as always when painting, it is a good idea to let the paint dry well and air the room for a couple of hours before sleeping in the room. As with most things related to pregnancy, we recommend doing what feels best for you and your baby.

Our large rollers are so-called stick rollers with a width of 25 cm. These fit on roller frames sized 23–25 cm. Our large trays and tray inserts are designed for rollers with a 25 cm width. The roller frames (handles) have a universal fit and can be attached to most extension poles. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact us via chat or email.

Sorry about the confusion! We have gone through two major collection changes that have led to changes in colour names. Klint’s first collection had 72 unique shades. In 2023, we launched quite a few new colours, while others were discontinued. In spring 2025, the palette was expanded again. At the same time, we updated the color names to harmonize them across different countries. If you want to purchase paint in a color that is no longer available on the website, please contact us via chat or email, and we’ll help you find the right shade.
